  • Princess Cruises Collaborates with Crafts Publisher Klutz to Offer Fun New Arts Program for Kids

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (February 25, 2009) – Princess Cruises has teamed with Klutz®, an innovative publisher of award-winning activity books for children, to provide high-quality arts and crafts projects for young passengers and their families while onboard. Klutz and Princess Cruises collaborated to develop custom-built kits designed to engage young cruisers in fun and creative activities. Unique in the cruise industry, the new activities are available fleetwide.

Children sailing aboard Princess ships will have the opportunity to participate in up to seven Klutz activities during their cruise. Kids will be able to build their own storybooks; create lanyard bracelets; make “picture tags” for charm bracelets, luggage tags, or pet I.D.s; create fuzzy masterpieces with Velvet Art; craft paper flowers, weave friendship bracelets; or make Thumb Doodle thumbprint art.

The new Klutz activities are offered for young passengers of all ages, and are scheduled during the youth center’s regular activities or during the ship’s family fun fair in the atrium, where all family members can join in the creative fun.

“Our onboard passenger experience is designed to offer many inventive programs to engage passengers of all ages,” said Jan Swartz, Princess executive vice president. “And these fun craft projects from Klutz are a wonderful addition to our diverse activities available for kids and teens.”

“We are honored and very excited to be working with Princess Cruises,” said Mark Judge, vice president of international and special markets for Klutz. “By inviting Klutz onboard, Princess Cruises has demonstrated its commitment to providing kids with a rich and memorable cruise experience.”

Princess Youth and Teen Programs provide state-of-the-art youth center facilities and an array of activities to keep kids and teens entertained. Young passengers enjoy a wide range of fun events for ages 3 to 17, supervised by a dedicated staff of youth activity professionals. The program offers three distinct, age-specific programs – Princess Pelicans (ages 3-7), Shockwaves (ages 8-12) and Remix (ages 13-17). Each group features an age-appropriate schedule, often with separate facilities. The program includes a number of special features, including Science on the Seas activities from the award-winning California Science Center, Yoga for Kids, and a Jr. CHEF@Sea program.

  • To Infinity and Beyond!

    May 31, 2008...  Greetings Earthlings,

To help “launch” Disney's newest attraction,
Toy Story Mania!, Buzz Lightyear will be helping to take NASA to an all-new destination...to infinity and beyond! That’s right, Buzz has joined the crew of the Space Shuttle Discovery mission, STS 124, that launched from Kennedy Space Center on Saturday, May 31. Which, incidentally, was the official opening of Walt Disney World® Resort’s newest attraction, Toy Story Mania!, a 4D interactive ride-through adventure.

During the mission, Buzz will be writing a journal and posting his findings on the
NASA.gov website, along with fun online educational games. This summer-long, “Toys in Space” education program will have Buzz flying in zero gravity and working side-by-side with the International Space Station team.

And don’t miss Buzz and the Space Station team as they downlink on June 17 from the Space Station for the official opening of Disneyland® Resort’s Toy Story Mania!

  • Mystery Cruises Aboard the Carnival Paradise

    March 27, 2008...

Carnival Cruise Lines, the world’s largest cruise operator, and Whodunit Productions, the leading organizer of mystery cruises at sea, have teamed up for a series of “Whodunit Cruises” aboard the 2,052-passenger “Fun Ship” Carnival Paradise from Long Beach, Calif., in 2008 and 2009.

Eight different three-day “Mystery Cruises” will be offered, the first of which will depart, appropriately enough, on Halloween - Oct. 31, 2008. Other departure dates include Jan. 9, Feb. 13, March 13, May 1, July 17, Oct. 30, and Dec. 4, 2009.  The “Whodunit Cruises” on the Carnival Paradise will encompass a variety of exciting activities taking place throughout the various public rooms and areas aboard the massive 70,000-ton SuperLiner – all with the objective of solving the mystery at the end of the voyage.

When participants arrive on board, they are given their own role to play and are encouraged to utilize the traits of their character to find out “whodunit.” “Mystery Cruise” participants also can interact with professional actors hired specifically to set the tone for the mystery by creating an unforgettable atmosphere of suspense and intrigue.  A variety of top-secret clues, everything from notes slipped discreetly under stateroom doors to instructions for various clandestine missions, are provided throughout the cruise. As the clues unravel, participants have to solve the mystery – before it’s too late!

Reservations are currently being accepted for the “Whodunit Cruises” aboard the Carnival Paradise. Rates start at $348 per person, based on double occupancy (includes all “Mystery Cruise” activities).
